BREAKING NEWS: the LTA has been Reintroduced in the HOUSE!

by Heather on March 28, 2019

Today, the Lymphedema Treatment Act was reintroduced in the House by our Lead Sponsor, Representative Jan Shakowsky (IL-9), and Co-leads Buddy Carter (GA-1), Earl Blumenauer (OR-3), and Mike Kelly (PA-16)!
The press release can be read here.

In a huge show of support, 92 additional House members also joined as Original Cosponsors, meaning that they were listed as  cosponsors at the time of introduction. This shows your outreach these last few weeks had a huge impact!

If your Representative is not one of the 92 please call his or her office tomorrow. The phone number and a call script are here. On Monday we will have a form available for you to also email your Representative.

There is a new House rule in this Congress stipulating that any bill reaching 290 cosponsors is guaranteed a hearing. That would have been a game-changer for us in the last Congress, when we reached 385 House cosponsors, so let’s take quick advantage of it this year!

Also, there is just one week left to reserve discounted hotel rooms for Lymphedema Lobby Days, May 5th-7th. The cut-off date is April 4th for discounted hotel rooms, and April 14th for event registration. We hope you can join us!
