Deadline to be Entered into our Final Compression Garment Drawing is Tomorrow!

by Heather on December 8, 2022

This is an actual response one of our advocates received from her Senate office:

“Thank you for your advocacy and dedication to this issue. It is people like you who make these things a reality. Before I worked here (4 years ago), I had no clue what Lymphedema was and the impact it has on so many people. Now I feel involved and invested after speaking to people who would benefit from this legislation.”

This is why your voice matters, and why it’s vitally important that your Senators continue to hear from you! Please ask friends and family to call too!

Calls to EVERY Senator are important. A small bill like ours needs many Senators asking for it to be prioritized to enable it to rise to the top and make it onto the short list of bills that will ultimately become law before this Congress wraps up in just a few weeks.

Everyone who calls their two Senators between 12/3 to 12/9 will be entered into our second and final compression garment giveaway. Most offices have after-hours voicemail, so you can call anytime and simply leave a message.

Additional tips for calling your Senators are below, but in order to be entered into thecompression garment giveaway you must use the Senate Call Action Alert, which enables you to log your call. If you haven’t used one of our call alerts before, here is a quick video tutorial.

Please keep the calls coming. We are so close, we can’t let up now!

CALL SCRIPT & TIPS:

  • I am a constituent calling to ask that the Senate please pass S.1315, the Lymphedema Treatment Act, before the end of the year. This bill was recently passed by the House. This issue is important to me because…

  • If your Senator is a cosponsor on the list below, mention that and say thank you. REMEMBER – during our House vote, 76 members who were not cosponsors voted yes, but 5 who were cosponsors voted no, so outreach to every Senator is important, regardless of cosponsor status.

  • If a Senator’s name is highlighted, they are a member of the Senate Finance Committee that has jurisdiction over our bill, meaning that he or she can be especially influential in our bill getting a vote!

  • If you are a constituent of Senator Cantwell (our lead sponsor) or Senator Grassley (our co-lead sponsor), it’s still very important that they hear from you. Thank them for their leadership on the bill and urge them to do everything possible to make sure it is passed this year!

  • If you are leaving a voicemail, include your name and zip code.
