As a reminder, the Lymphedema Treatment Act became law in December 2022, but does not go into effect until January 1, 2024. We’ve heard from a number of people recently concerned about coverage problems they are currently experiencing, and want to reassure you that these are not related to the LTA.
For many years now coverage has been worsening, with non-Medicare policies increasingly citing that they were revising their coverage to better align with Medicare policy. While this historically has been to our detriment, that alignment will work in our favor once Medicare coverage begins in 2024.
If you are currently being denied coverage for any of your treatment supplies or services we encourage you to appeal. Many patients do win their appeals! There is a lot of information available through this old but still relevant post containing resources to help with your appeal.
And if you missed our last newsletter, which was full of a lot of great material, it is repeated below. Thank you!
We are so pleased to be able to share with you the photos and videos taken during last month’s DC event to celebrate passage of the Lymphedema Treatment Act!
There’s a lot to look at, so if you only choose one, make sure to watch the video of the Congressional Awards Ceremony. Hearing the members of Congress who lead the LTA over the years speak about our efforts is very moving.
Please remember that all photos and video footage linked to here are for your personal viewing only, and may not be shared or re-used in manner, in part or in full, without our explicit written permission.
