Maryland has a new Lymphedema Law!

by Heather on May 21, 2018

Thanks to the great work of our Maryland advocates, while simultaneously working for passage of the LTA they have succeeded in passing a Maryland lymphedema treatment bill!

This state law requires that private insurance plans based in Maryland “provide coverage for the medically necessary diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment of lymphedema, including equipment, supplies, complex decongestive therapy, gradient compression garments, and self-management training and education; etc.”

The full Maryland law, and those like it that exist in North Carolina and Virgina, can be accessed through the Background & History page of our website.

Myself and other members of our board are on the Hill this week. If you are on social media, please consider sending a message or tweet to your members of Congress. Sample text is on our Social Media page.

Your support makes our work possible. We hope you will also consider making a donation to our all-volunteer group. Donations can be made by mailing a check to The Lymphedema Advocacy Group, PO Box 1682, Carrboro, NC 27510, or online through our website.

Thank you for your advocacy and support!
