We now have the MOST SUPPORTED healthcare bill in Congress!

by Heather on September 10, 2018

With the addition of two new cosponsors last week, the LTA officially became the most supported healthcare bill currently before Congress!

This is a monumental achievement for any bill, but especially for ours, considering that few offices had even heard of lymphedema before we undertook this effort. The chart to the right can be downloaded here.

You might be wondering, why has it not passed then, and why are we still trying to get more cosponsors? The answer is frustratingly simple – it’s hard to get any legislation involving a cost passed. Hard, but not impossible, and that is why we persist!

Even though we know there will be savings in reduced complications, there is still an upfront cost to new coverage. The greater the number of cosponsors the greater the will in Congress to pass the bill regardless of this.

The members of Congress not yet cosponsoring are listed below. A call script is beneath their phone numbers. Please keep the pressure on by continuing to call.

Members of our board will be on Capitol Hill this week, and the week of September 24th, to meet with these offices. Our meetings alone won’t get the job done though, they must hear from constituents too. Together, we can get the LTA passed!
