Why the new “290 Rule” is important for the LTA!

by Heather on April 22, 2019

This Congress, the House of Representatives adopted several new rules, one of which could be a game changer for bills like ours. House bills with more than 290 cosponsors are now guaranteed to get a floor vote, which is intended to expedite bills with broad, bipartisan support.

In the last Congress our bill finished with 385 House cosponsors, and 301 of them have returned to Congress this year. This means we are well positioned to again garner tremendous support, and the quicker we can get to 290 the better!

With over 120 House cosponsors already, we are more than 40% of the way there. If your Representative is not yet cosponsoring (see list below) please call and email his or her office this week.

The phone number and call script, as well as the form to send an email, are all here.

Thank you for your advocacy!
