The budget reconciliation bill you’ve likely heard about in the news is aiming to add hearing dental and vision to Medicare. Whether you agree or disagree with this, I think the one thing we can all agree on is that if improvements are being made to Medicare, the Lymphedema Treatment Act should be included too! As a reminder, while the bill can only directly mandate that Medicare cover compression supplies, it will indirectly benefit all patients because so many other plans follow Medicare’s coverage standards.
Competition to get into this package is fierce. Our bill sponsors are doing everything they can, but your own members of Congress can help too, and that’s why we’ve been asking you to call and email them. Here is some information from Congressman Blumenauer, one of our LTA co-leads, about the importance of constituent advocacy.
You can complete your three phone calls and send an email in just 10 minutes! Please make your calls and send your emails today if you haven’t already, and feel free to do it again if you already have — the squeaky wheel gets the grease.
Most offices have voicemail set up to receive messages outside their normal business hours of 9am-5pm EST, so you can call any time. We wouldn’t keep asking if this wasn’t important. Thank you so much for your advocacy!
